Five fun things to do with your mum this Mother’s Day
Sometimes we just have to show the mums in our life how much they mean to us. And Mother’s Day is always the ideal opportunity to do just that. So, whether you’re treating your mum or planning a day of celebration for your wife or partner, here are five things to get you thinking.
We’ll look at some ideas for simple activities, creative options and a delicious Sunday carvery – we’ll even let you know how you can find the best pubs for Mother’s Day.
1. Enjoy a delicious pub lunch
Mother’s Day always falls on a Sunday – that’s why the traditionalists still call it Mothering Sunday – so it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy delicious food and quality time together.
If you’re thinking of going for a Mother’s Day pub lunch, why not head somewhere that serves up a delicious carvery? Whether the whole family is coming down to celebrate mum or you’re having a meal just the two of you, you can tuck into 14-hour slow-cooked carvery meats or a vegetarian pie at your local Farmhouse Inns pub restaurant.
We’ve got seasonal veggies and the crispiest roast potatoes going, alongside our terrific traditional Yorkshire puddings. We’ve got giant, hand-decorated cakes too, which we’re sure Mum will love.
It’s what Mother’s Day memories are made of. And with pubs up and down the country, it only takes a few moments to find a Mother’s Day pub lunch near you.
2. Book a spa day
There’s nothing quite like a pamper session to let your mum know how much she means to you on Mother’s Day.
Book a day of lounging by a pool in white robes with a glass of fizz in hand. Take a dip in the jacuzzi, swim a couple of lengths and warm up in the sauna or steam room. And book some treatments like a relaxing massage, before enjoying a lovely lunch together at one of our pub restaurants. What a day.
3. Head out for a nice walk
Sometimes the best Mother’s Day ideas are the simplest, and for us, this special day is all about spending time with your mum. Whether you want to gossip, catch up or just enjoy each other’s company, you can’t beat heading out into nature for a nice walk.
Grab your wellies and go local or plan a full day out at a National Trust site with a picnic in hand. And if you’re feeling adventurous, why not head out into a national park to see the very best of nature in the spring sunshine? We love it.
4. Enjoy some retail therapy
For a different type of day together, you could spend some quality time with your mum this Mother’s Day indulging in a little retail therapy. Head out into town or to your nearest city and hit the shops. Letting your mum choose her own Mother’s Day present is a lovely idea. She’ll love the treat.
Plus, you can grab lunch at one of our pub restaurants afterwards, enjoy a drink in the evening or maybe even stay in town to catch a show too. It’s a fantastic way to create a memorable Mother’s Day together.
5. Take a class together
Why not go a little out there and plan a Mother’s Day with a difference in 2025?
Does your mum love to cook? Is she always up for experiencing something new? How about a cooking class where you can both learn new skills cooking a different cuisine? What about Thai, Vietnamese, or even Mexican? It’s a fun activity to do on the day or to give as a gift you can both do together.
Or why not plan an art class or a pottery class? If your mum loves to get creative, help her find a new creative spark with a class like this. You’ll never know what skills you can pick up. Again, it’s a fun thing to do on the day itself or to buy for a present.
